Mariah Hernandez-Fitch is from Dulac, Louisiana, and a citizen of the United Houma Nation. Her debut short, Ekbeh,premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. In 2024, Mariah was named one of United National Indian Tribal Youth’s “25 Under 25,” which allowed her to host workshops for Indigenous youth on creating digital storytelling to serve tribal communities. Now based in New Orleans, Louisiana, she completed her master’s in American Indian Studies at UCLA in 2025 and is currently a 1L at Tulane Law School. Drawing from her identity as Indigenous, Mexican, and Filipino, she creates films and writes about public policy, tribal sovereignty, identity, memory, and land.
