Mariah Hernandez-Fitch is from Dulac, Louisiana, and a citizen of the United Houma Nation. Her debut short, “Ekbeh,” premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. In 2024, Mariah was named one of United National Indian Tribal Youth’s “25 Under 25,” which allowed her to host workshops for Indigenous youth on creating digital storytelling to serve tribal communities. Now based in Los Angeles, California, she is completing her master’s in American Indian Studies at UCLA in Spring 2025. Drawing from her identity as Indigenous, Mexican, and Filipino, she creates films that weave with public policy, tribal sovereignty, identity, memory, and land.
